Water Catchments – Reservoirs

About This Project

Pans are usually located in the grazing areas and along transhumance routes. Pans allow extended use of wet season grazing areas before livestock is moved to areas near permanent water sources.

This activity will involve desalting additional 3000m3 for each pan to increase the total capacity of each pan to about 5000 m3, depending on current volume. It will also involve the construction of ancillary structures such as inlet channels, silt traps, and spillways.

ACEPO desalted of water catchments in Qalafe and Danan districts during February and March 2014. The main aim of the activities was to provide job opportunities (cash for work) for the host communities.
